Our line in the United States started with Robert Hubbard, born in England in about 1602. He came to Jamestown, Virginia in about 1644 with his family. This is the beginning of my attempt to prove that most of the Hubbards who live in VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, TN, KY, MS, IL and MO are related.

The Bond County branch of our family started with Peter Hubbard the 2nd who was born on 07/31/1756 in South Carolina.   Peter was a Lieutenant under General Francis Marion ("The Swamp Fox") in South Carolina during the Revolutionary War.   Peter moved his family to Montgomery County, Tennessee in 1803.   His sons Peter, Phillip and David moved their families to Bond County.   Peter the 3rd and Phillip brought their father to Bond County in 1839.   William and his family followed.

Also, while several sources have indicated that the family was of Welch descent, that is not the case. I have searched extensively in the Welch information on line and there are no Hubbards listed anywhere. The concept probably came from the fact that Peter N. Hubbard, the 1st settled in the Welch Neck area of the Cheraw District in South Carolina when he moved there in 1751. All other evidence shows the family to be of English descent.

I have been in contact with descendents of all eight of Peter's children that are known to have lived to adulthood.   Several of them I met when we celebrated his 250th birthday party in 2006.
